Lake, Szczur, Vitters, Beliveau among Cubs cuts

MESA, Ariz.The Cubs have made building from within a priority, so it wouldnt be a surprise to see some of these players at Wrigley Field by 2014, if not sooner.

But for now, two of the more intriguing prospects in the systeminfielder Junior Lake and outfielder Matt Szczurare heading to Double-A Tennessee.

The Cubs also optioned infielder Josh Vitters, and pitchers Jeff Beliveau, John Gaub and Alberto Cabrera to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, reducing their spring roster to 48 players.

Catcher Jason Jaramilloa non-roster invitee who has been limited by a quad injurywas assigned to minor-league camp.
