Marshall could be cleared of charges this week

The trade that brought Brandon Marshall to the Bears from the Miami Dolphins went off under a bit of a cloud because the veteran wide receiver had just days earlier been linked to an incident in a New York nightclub that involved a possible assault.

Now it appears that the police investigation may be wrapping up with Marshall being cleared of charges, according to ESPNs Adam Schefter.

I know the police had struggled to find evidence that would connect Marshall with any wrongdoing in this case, Schefter said, pointing to the end of this week as the time when an official announcement could be coming.

Marshalls wife was injured in the incident, in which a woman claimed that she was punched in the face by Marshall, and Marshall said at the time of his trade that he had faith that matters would resolve as they should.

Once the process has taken its course, my wife and I will be shown in the light that we should be, Marshall said. Given my history, I definitely understand the concern and the questions, but there's not too much I can go into about that.
