NBA season through social media

Sports fans know they can count on social media sites to explode with information whenever an exciting or outrageous play takes place. Now all those videos, tweets, and posts that have been contributed to the internet are combined to show just how much hype each team receives throughout a season.

Mashable entertainment worked using Taykey to analyze social media usage in relation to each NBA playoff team throughout the shortened regular season.

When looking at demographics and popular sites, Mashable documented factors such as gender, age, and time within the season when recording their statistics about Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and RSS usage.

So where do the Bulls rank in all of this?

Fifty-five percent of the team's online hype can be found on Twitter, while Facebook comes in second at 24. The Lakers took the cake in tweets with a whopping 79, but Chicago came out on top in the Eastern Conference.
