For the first time since the end of the 2008 regular season, Northwestern is ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Wildcats were ranked No. 24 one day after a 44-29 home win over Indiana in their Big Ten season opener. With the win, the Wildcats moved to 5-0 for the first time since the 2010 season. They also began the 2008 season 5-0.
Northwestern also appeared in the USA TodayCoaches Poll, ranked No. 22.
Their slate won't get any easier, however. The Wildcats go on the road to Penn State and Minnesota the next two weeks, followed by home dates with No. 21 Nebraska and Iowa to finish October.
Nebraska and No. 12 Ohio State are the only other ranked Big Ten 10 teams. Alabama was unanimously ranked No. 1, followed by Oregon State, Florida State, LSU and Georgia to round out the top five. Notre Dame (4-0) is ranked No. 9.
