Notre Dame landed a key piece to its basketball future on Tuesday night as four-star Class of 2017 prospect D.J. Harvey pledged to the Irish in a televised announcement on CSN Mid-Atlantic.

The 6-foot-7 Harvey is regarded as the No. 51 overall prospect according to Rivals in the Class of 2017 as he comes from DeMatha Catholic High School, the same alma mater as Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey. A scoring wing who can fill it up from anywhere on the floor, Harvey gives the Irish a wing who can play multiple spots on the floor.

Harvey is Notre Dame's first commitment in the Class of 2017 and represents a good start for Mike Brey's recruiting efforts.
