Notre Dame crashes out of coaches poll after loss to Michigan State

As if you needed any further confirmation of Notre Dame's College Football Playoff hopes being completely wiped out by Saturday's 36-28 loss to Michigan State: Notre Dame is unranked in the latest USA Today coaches poll released Sunday.

It's the first time Notre Dame isn't ranked in the coaches poll since after the end of the 2014 season. The Irish entered Week 3 ranked No. 18.

Two future Irish opponents were ranked: No. 6 Stanford and No. 19 Miami, both of whom won on Saturday.

Texas, which lost to Cal, dropped to No. 24 and Michigan State rose to No. 8.

Notre Dame also dropped out of the AP top 25 and received only 32 votes in that poll, 42 votes fewer than FCS side North Dakota State.
