Notre Dame came in at No. 10 in the AP preseason poll released Sunday, the program's highest preseason AP ranking since Brian Kelly took over for the 2010 season.

Notre Dame ranks between No. 9 Tennessee and No. 11 Ole Miss. Three Irish opponents are also ranked: No. 8 Stanford, No. 12 Michigan State and No. 20 USC. Miami, which Notre Dame plays Oct. 29, narrowly missed the top 25 with 159 points, 21 shy of No. 25 Florida's 180 votes. Irish opponents Texas (12 votes) and Navy (eight votes) also appeared in the "others receiving votes" category.

Last year, Notre Dame began and ended the season ranked No. 11 in the AP poll.

Votes for the preseason AP poll were cast well before news of six players being arrested in two separate incidents broke Friday night and into Saturday morning. As of Sunday morning, though, no discipline has been announced by the university or football program stemming from those arrests.
