Notre Dame will begin 2015 under the lights, with its Sept. 5 season-opening kickoff against Texas slated for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Texas game is likely the first of two night games at Notre Dame Stadium in 2015, with Oct. 17's game a strong possibility to kick off in prime time. The last two Notre Dame-USC games in South Bend have kicked off in prime time on NBC.

Notre Dame's contract with NBC calls for five prime time games over a rolling two-year period, which includes the annual prime time Shamrock Series game. So there is flexibility to kick off Notre Dame-USC at 7:30 p.m. ET this year if the school and NBC still want to go that route -- essentially, Notre Dame can hold three nights games at Notre Dame Stadium over a two-year period.

If Notre Dame does have prime time kickoffs against Texas and USC this fall, it would only host one home night game in 2016. Next year's home slate features Nevada, Michigan State, Duke, Stanford, Miami and Virginia Tech.

Kickoff times for Notre Dame's other 11 regular season games have not been announced, though this year's Shamrock Series game -- Nov. 21 vs. Boston College at Fenway Park -- will almost certainly be a prime time kickoff. An Oct. 3 game at Clemson would be a good bet for a prime time kickoff as well.
