Brian Kelly wants everyone to tap the brakes a bit and not rush to any big-picture judgments about Notre Dame's defense after it allowed 50 points at Texas on Sunday.
On one hand, we're only one game into the 2016 season. That's an incredibly small sample size that generally doesn't allow for far-reaching determinatinos to be made.
But when you zoom out, you see a 27-game trend in the Brian VanGorder era that's more in line with what happened in Austin over the weekend. Many of the defensive issues that cropped up in 2014 and 2015 were present against the Longhorns.
