The majority of NHL fans and analysts predicted the Penguins to eliminate the Flyers from the first round of the playoffs. Sure, Sidney Crosby hadn't been back on the ice for long and Philly threatened a 'blood bath' from the start, but Pittsburgh went into the postseason with one of the deepest lineups in the league.
Now that the Pens have been eliminated from the postseason, it looks like the trio of Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Jordan Staal may end up being a thing of the past.
Penguins general manager Ray Shero says he hopes to be in contact with Crosby and Staal--who each have one season left on their contracts--in the near future. There was no mention of Malkin.

"As with anything," Shero said, "we have to take a look over the next couple of months and see exactly where we are."
