Last season, East St. Louis sophomore wide receiver Lawaun Powell (6-foot-0, 191 pounds) turned some heads. He did the same at the recently held EDGYTIM Underclassmen Showcase powered by EFT Football Academy. Once the lights go on, Powell takes on a completely different personality and is locked in. He is one of the state's top underclassmen names to watch.
Powell is a relatively quiet, polite and humble kid off the field. He was one of several Flyers who made the 500-plus mile round trip to compete at this annual event. Powell recently added his first scholarship offer from Virginia Tech. He spent a few minutes talking about his game, his recruiting process along with the upcoming 2018 season. The Flyers’ schedule is one of the most challenging in the state.
