NBCSportsChicago.com preps reporter "Edgy" Tim O’Halloran spotlights 100 high school football teams in 100 days. The first 75 team profiles will focus on teams making strides across Chicagoland and elsewhere in the state. Starting Aug. 5, we’ll unveil the @NBCSPrepsTop 25 Power Rankings, leading up to kickoff on Friday, Aug. 30.

School: Fenton

Assistant coaches: Bill Modowski, Tim O'Connell, Jason Sabala, Mike Chappell, Michael Strojny, Marco Medina, Eric Ilich, Dave Ellett, Jake Chvatal, Robert Garza and Rodrigo Castaneda

How they fared in 2018: 4-5 (2-3 Metro Suburban Red Conference). Fenton failed to qualify for the IHSA state football playoff field.

2019 regular-season schedule:

Aug. 30 vs Larkin
Sept. 6 vs West Chicago
Sept. 13 @ Streamwood
Sept. 20 vs Glenbard East
Sept. 27 @ Bartlett
Oct. 4 @ Glenbard South
Oct. 11 vs Elgin
Oct. 18 @ East Aurora
Oct. 25 @ South Elgin

Biggest storyline: Can the Bison find success in the Upstate Eight conference?

Names to watch this season: RB/DB Andre Bess (Sr.) and OL Julian Giles (Sr.)

Biggest holes to fill: The Bison welcome back several starters from a season ago (nine offense, five defense) but who will win the quarterback spot this summer?

EDGY's Early Take: Fenton will make the move from the Metro Suburban Red conference over to the Upstate Eight this season. And at least on the surface, the Bison should be a good fit in the new conference home. Matt Lynch’s crew welcomes back a strong core of starters from a team that missed out on a potential playoff bid last fall by a one-point loss in Week 9 to Chicago Christian. Look for Fenton to challenge in the newly realigned Upstate Eight conference this season.
