Biggest storyline: The Dukes had a three-game improvement from 2017-2018. Can the Dukes continue to take positive steps forward and make the 2019 IHSA state football playoffs?
Names to watch this season: Josh Mathiasen (Sr.) and OL Jack Wall (Sr.)
Biggest holes to fill: The Dukes will need to replace some key names from a season ago including 2019 graduate QB Danny Dunn. He was a big part of the York offense.
EDGY's Early Take: Despite missing the state playoffs last season, second-year head coach Mike Fitzgerald was able to get the Dukes program playing at a high level. The overall energy and numbers remain a positive heading into August. If York can reload a bit in a few key spots they could challenge for a state playoff bid. They have talent and depth. Getting off to a strong start will be paramount for the Dukes' chances this season.
