Both Brother Rice senior offensive tackle Nick Marozas (6-foot-5, 280 pounds) and DeLaSalle senior cornerback Byron Perkins (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) made college decisions Monday evening.

Marozas, who is a three-star ranked offensive tackle, gave Indiana his verbal commitment, announcing it to the public via Twitter.

Marozas is now the second known Chicagoland verbal commit in the Hoosier's Class of 2018, joining Hinsdale Central tight end Matt Bjorson, who committed earlier this month.

De La Salle senior cornerback Byron Perkins called his verbal commitment to Purdue this evening, "a belated Father's Day gift."

"I guess you can say that this is a late Father's Day gift for my dad," Perkins said. "My dad and I talked yesterday and he talked about being excited to see where I'll go to school and play in college. He was really excited to see me committed to Purdue and I feel great about my decision. My whole family is excited."

Perkins, who had a handful of offers along with strong recruiting interest from several Big Ten schools, felt that Purdue offered him the best possible fit.

"Purdue just seems to fit me in a lot of ways. On and off the field I feel like I'll be a good fit," he said. "I looked really hard at all of my options and offers this spring and summer. I was really interested in Miami of Ohio. It's a really good school and they also offer great academics, but in the end I just felt like Purdue is the best place for me."

Perkins is now the second Chicagoland verbal pledge to the Boilermakers Class of 2018, joining Hoffman Estates linebacker Jaylan Alexander.
