Exciting transfer guard Zion Young could be major addition for Simeon

Transfers are always a huge storyline for the June high school basketball shootout season in Illinois and the Riverside-Brookfield Shootout this past weekend was no different.

One of the new players to watch for next season will be new Simeon senior guard Zion Young. A native of Chicago, Young spent two seasons playing high school basketball in Northwest Indiana before spending his junior season at Wasatch Academy in Utah.

The powerful and athletic 6-foot-3 guard made his debut with the Wolverines this weekend as he'll join a talented team that will compete for a city and state championship next season.

Playing alongside junior point guard KeJuan Clements as well as seniors like guard Kezo Brown and wing Talen Horton-Tucker and the Wolverines have a lot of options to choose from on the perimeter.

As an attacking, high-flying scorer who can knock down jumpers or finish inside, Young could be a solid compliment to play alongside a driving guard like Clements and a catch-and-shoot perimeter option like Brown.

Young will be a player to keep an eye on this season as he is a Division I prospect who could find his way on to the All-Area team if he adjusts quickly to playing in the Chicago Public League.
