DE KALB, ILL. - Sam Brodner's four touchdown runs helped undefeated Glenbard West to a 34-28 victory over Libertyville for the Illinois Class 7A championship on Saturday.
Glenbard West (14-0) overcame a pair of seven-point deficits to collect its second Class 7A title in three years.
The Hilltoppers trailed by a point in the third quarter when Isaiah Skinner caught Brian Cochrane's 9-yard fourth-down touchdown pass for a 27-21 lead. Skinner's score capped a 15-play drive that took 8:49 to accomplish.
Brodner had 27 carries for 264 yards.
Libertyville (13-1) led 7-0 and 21-14, but couldn't control Glenbard West's offense, which scored at least four touchdowns 11 times this season.
Wildcats quarterback Riley Lees (19-of-28, 232 yards) answered Brodner's final touchdown with his fourth touchdown pass of the game, a 2-yard completion to Henry Schmidt. That closed the gap to 34-28.
