Grace Baalman, Kassidy Klocke lead Calhoun to girls 1A title

Grace Baalman and Kassidy Klocke scored 17 points each to lead Hardin Calhoun past Moweaqua Central A&M 60-56 on Saturday to win the girls Class 1A state title.

The game was forced into overtime by a free throw by Hardin’s Sydney White that tied the game 50-50 at the end of regulation. White scored 11 points for Hardin (32-2).

Emma Meyer scored 17 points for Moweaqua (32-2), while Mikah Maples added 16.

Emma Baalman scored four points in the final 25 seconds before her sister, Grace Baalman, sealed the win by sinking two free throws with six seconds left.

In Friday’s quarterfinals, Hardin defeated Seton Academy 57-31, while Moweaqua beat Shabbona 33-27.
