Jacobs senior three-star ranked quarterback Chris Katrenick (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) received a scholarship offer Sunday night from Duke and this morning Katrenick decommitted from Bowling Green, giving the Duke Blue Devils his verbal commitment.

"Duke had been in touch with me for awhile now while still being respectful to my commitment to Bowling Green," Katrencik said. "When they offered me last night I decided that it was too good of an opportunity to pass up."

Katrenick added his Duke offer last night after San Clemente (CA) four-star ranked senior Jack Sears decommitted from the Blue Devils and pledged to in-state USC.

Katrenick admitted that calling up the Bowling Green staff to decommit was difficult.

"It was a hard call to make, but the BGSU coaches are so classy," Katrenick said. "They were encouraging and knew it was the best fit for me so the call went better than I expected it to go. Duke is just a great fit for me. The staff including Coach (David) Cutcliffe and the football program fits my personality well. The academics at Duke are second to none and it just felt right when I was on campus this past summer."

Katrenick plans to make an official visit to Duke on December 9th.
