Walker also talked about why he made such an early verbal commitment.

"I mean the recruiting process was cool and all with all of the visits, but I also just wanted to get it over with soon. I wanted time to plan my future."

Walker is now the sixth verbal commitment in Western Michigan's Class of 2017 and the fifth from Illinois. Walker joins Bishop McNamara junior wide receiver Christopher Bell (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) and offensive tackle Dylan Deatherage (6-foot-6, 255 pounds), plus East St. Louis quarterback Reyondous Estes (6-foot-0, 160 pounds) and Rockford Lutheran defensive back Marcus Hayes (5-foot-11, 185 pounds).
