Preps Hoops Power Rankings: Week 4
1. Simeon (6-0, 3-0) (Previous: 1)
Great week for the Wolverines as they had two wins in Texas and a good conference win over Bogan. Senior Talen Horton-Tucker put up a monster 40-point outing in Texas while senior Messiah Jones continues to be one of the area's most productive players.
2. Whitney Young (10-1, 3-0) (2)
Nice win in Texas for the Dolphins as sophomore shooter Elliot Sieger made his season debut. Whitney Young continues to chug along as they're the first team in the area to reach 10 wins this season.
3. Curie (6-1, 3-0) (4)
Huge win for the Condors over Morgan Park in conference play as the Condors had a great game from junior guard Marquise Walker. Curie still hasn't peaked yet and they already own wins over Morgan Park and Orr. The Condors have a scary ceiling.
4. Bolingbrook (7-1, 1-0) (5)
Bolingbrook proved themselves as an elite team with a win over Romeoville as the Raiders continue to have some of the best perimeter play in the area. A weekend split against some of the best teams in Iowa was also a good challenge for Bolingbrook.
5. Niles North (8-0, 3-0) (6)
Nice comeback win for the Vikings as they outlasted Evanston for a quality win. Senior Damaria Franklin is the real deal as the All-Area candidate as outstanding in the win over the Wildkits. And Franklin has plenty of talent around him, including shifty senior guard Dravon Clayborn.
6. Morgan Park (4-3, 2-2) (3)
The Mustangs dropped a tough one to Curie while they also blew out Kenwood. The early conference schedule has been brutal for Morgan Park so far as things start to get a little easier for them in the city the next few weeks.
7. Oak Park-River Forest (7-0, 2-0) (8)
OPRF remains undefeated as the Huskies took down Glenbard West. Not playing the toughest of schedules the past few weeks, it'll be fascinating to see how OPRF looks at the loaded Pontiac Holiday Tournament.
8. Orr (5-2, 3-0) (9)
Really strong week from Orr as they landed wins over Lincoln Park and Proviso East while going to St. Louis and knocking off Hazelwood. Senior Raekwon Drake is getting some positive buzz for some recent play.
9. Romeoville (9-1, 3-0) (7)
Romeoville lost their first major test against Bolingbrook but they responded with some wins over Plainfield North and Parkway Central (MO). It's tough to figure out if Romeoville is a state title contender at this point but they have the talent to ascend into elite status.
10. Naperville North (8-0, 3-0) (10)
The Huskies needed overtime to top Lake Park as they also ran past Joliet West to remain unbeaten. Surviving some recent scares from unranked opponents, Naperville North will be tested at the York during holiday tournament time.
11. West Aurora (7-1, 2-0) (11)
The Blackhawks survived challenges from Glenbard East and St. Charles East during the week. West Aurora goes on the road to play St. Charles East this week before things get rolling at Pontiac.
12. Larkin (6-2, 4-0) (12)
Big win for the Royals over St. Charles East during the week as senior center Jalen Shaw continues to play like one of the area's premier post players. Larkin gets Lake Park this week before Proviso West begins.
13. Fenwick (7-3, 1-0) (13)
Huge buzzer-beater from A.J. Nixon to lift the Friars past Brother Rice as Fenwick has figured things out after some early losses. Fenwick will host Mount Carmel this week before they begin at Proviso West.
14. New Trier (7-0, 2-0) (15)
It wasn't tough for New Trier to run past Lake View for an easy non-conference win this week. The Trevians get an interesting conference road game at Glenbrook South this week before Proviso West begins.
15. DePaul Prep (8-1, 0-0) (17)
The Rams did everything they could to hold off Leo for a decent win. Conference play picks up for DePaul Prep this week when they get a crack at St. Ignatius at home.
16. Kenwood (5-2, 3-1) (14)
A bit of an eye-opener when Kenwood got blown out by Morgan Park but the Broncos still have a lot of talent. With the Public League struggling to find a sixth best team outside of the main five contenders, Kenwood will have plenty of chances to make a move this season.
17. St. Viator (8-1, 2-0) (20)
It's time to take St. Viator seriously as a major contender for the ESCC crown. Conference wins over ranked teams like Marian Catholic and Benet have been huge for the Lions as they've played one of the more difficult schedules in the area so far this season.
18. Marian Catholic (6-1, 1-1) (21)
Two wins for the Spartans during the week, including a solid win over St. Rita. Marian Catholic has an intriguing non-conference clash with Waukegan this week before they enter the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic.
19. Proviso East (7-2, 3-0) (16)
A super dangerous team now that senior Quinlan Bennett is back, the Pirates lost against Orr to close out the weekend. Proviso East will be a major factor in the Proviso West Holiday Tournament in a few weeks as they open against Bogan.
20. Benet (7-2, 1-1) (18)
The Redwings lost an ESCC road game at St. Viator as they've had some close losses to good teams this season. Benet gets another test against Lake Forest before the Pontiac Holiday Tournament.
21. Evanston (7-2, 2-1) (19)
Tough loss for the Wildkits as they dropped a road game at Niles North. Although they lost to a top-ten team, Evanston held their own and they have plenty of room to grow as the season rolls along.
22. Hillcrest (9-2, 4-0) (23)
Easy win for Hillcrest as they ran past Reavis to move to 4-0 in conference play. The Proviso West Holiday Tournament will be a major test for the Hawks in a few weeks as they open the event with unbeaten New Trier.
23. Wheaton Warrenville South (8-0, 4-0) (NR)
Another blowout win for Wheaton Warrenville South as they made easy work of Neuqua Valley. Between this season and last, the senior class for the Tigers has been really impressive.
24. Willowbrook (6-1, 2-1) (NR)
Impressive win for the Warriors over Hinsdale South as Willowbrook makes its way back into the Power Rankings. With only a loss to unbeaten Wheaton-Warrenville South, the Warriors don't have any bad losses on the season as they've piled up double-digit wins.
25. Hinsdale South (8-2, 1-1)
Hinsdale South lost a tough one to Willowbrook in conference play but bounced back with a good win over Conant. One of the main contenders at York, the Hornets are a dangerous team.
