Kenwood

2017-18 record:
 12-12, 4-5 in the Public League Red-South/Central

Postseason results: Lost to Brother Rice in Class 4A regional finals.

Players to watch: Senior point guard Artese Stapleton is one of the city's better floor generals after starting last season. Transfer guard Lamond Johnson adds another promising backcourt presence who has played in big-time games before. Junior big man Seryee Lewis is a Division I prospect and a tremendous athlete who will be counted on for production inside. Senior Nuri Knighton provides energy while junior Rowland McCoy can put up points in a hurry.

Why they're in the power rankings: Maddeningly inconsistent a year ago, Kenwood has the talent to be one of the better teams in the Public League if they figure things out. The backcourt of Stapleton and Johnson is athletic and dynamic and Lewis could morph into a big-time player. If the stars come to play, Kenwood should have the complimentary pieces to be a dangerous team.

Did you know? One of the more highly-recruited juniors in the Illinois junior class, Lewis currently has 11 scholarship offers.
