Recruiting News and Notes: Quincy Patterson receives offer from Mississippi State

Quincy Patterson (QB), Solorio

Junior three-star ranked quarterback Quincy Patterson (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) was able to add his first SEC offer from Mississippi State.

"It's great to get an offer from an SEC school like Mississippi State," Patterson said. "It's the same school that Dak Prescott came from definitely gives it that extra edge for me. I started to follow them about three years ago and kind of liked them ever since."

Patterson, who also added an offer late last week from Syracuse, now has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Penn State, New Mexico, in addition to Syracuse and Mississippi State.

Devin O'Rourke (DE), Lincoln-Way East

Junior four-star ranked defensive end Devin O'Rourke (6-foot-6, 230 pounds) made a recent gameday visit to Notre Dame.

"I went to Notre Dame for the Michigan State game and I had a great visit," O'Rourke said. "The overall history at Notre Dame definitely stood out on my visit along with the traditions with football at Notre Dame. The Notre Dame coaches just keep telling me to stay in contact with them and we talk on a regular basis about the school."

O'Rourke has remained in regular contact with Notre Dame along with Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa and Syracuse this fall. He plans to visit Michigan State soon for a game. O'Rourke has scholarship offers from Illinois, Iowa State, Northwestern, Central Michigan and Wisconsin.

Josh Maize (DE), Deerfield

Senior three-star ranked defensive end Josh Maize (6-foot-4, 230 pounds) has been hitting the recruiting road hard over the past three weeks.

"I've been able to get out and visit Miami of Ohio, Purdue and Central Michigan the past three weekends," Maize said. "All three visits I made as unofficial visits. I haven't been able to see either Miami of Ohio or Purdue in person so it was good to get to see all three schools."

Maize, who has picked up recent interest from Syracuse, Penn State and Oklahoma, plans to make another unofficial visit to Toledo in two weeks.

Henry Marchese (WR), Stevenson

Senior wide receiver Henry Marchese (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) is having a terrific senior season for the Patriots (5-1) and head coach Bill McNamara. Sseveral Power 5 schools have noticed.

"Central Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin all seem very interested," Marchese said. "All three schools also seem very close to offering me. I visited Wisconsin two weeks ago and Iowa last weekend. I'm also hoping to get out to see Central Michigan soon."

Marchese has also remained in regular contact with Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, Syracuse, Pitt and Virginia.

Simeon defensive back Chau Smith commits to Wyoming

Simeon senior three-star ranked defensive back recruit Chau Smith (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) decided today to end his recruiting process and give the University of Wyoming his verbal commitment. Smith discusses his college decision here.

"I'm really happy about my decision," Smith said. "I had a great visit this weekend to Wyoming and the visit really sealed the deal for me."

Smith, who had recently narrowed his top schools list to the Cowboys along with Toledo, NIU, Colorado State and Temple, filled us in on what stood out to him on his weekend official visit to Wyoming.

"The coaching staff at Wyoming is great," Smith said. "Coach Rich (John Richardson) is nothing less than real and I can't emphasize that enough. I also know that head coach (Craig) Bohl has my best interest at heart. He has made a commitment to me that I will leave Laramie with my college degree. My family loves that and they also loved it at Wyoming and I loved it at Wyoming. Just the whole vibe at Wyoming is great and I feel I will be pushed to become a greater player and that the coaches will push me to do great things."

Earlier in the week Smith had no official visit plans set. He decided at the last minute to take an official visit to Wyoming.
