One of the area's top remaining seniors ended his recruitment on Monday afternoon as St. Joseph center Nick Rakocevic pledged to USC.
The 6-foot-11 Rakocevic announced his commitment to the Pac-12 NCAA tournament team on Twitter after taking an official visit there over the weekend.
A two-time CSN All-Area selection, Rakocevic elevated to the first team of that group in his senior season after being the only senior on a Charger team that still made the final four in Class 3A.
With the Chargers losing talented seniors like Jordan Ash (Northwestern) and Glynn Watson (Nebraska) to graduation after winning a state championship in Class 3A in 2015, Rakocevic stepped up and had a huge season to carry a lot of the production for the Chargers as they surprisingly made it back to Peoria this season.
During his senior season, Rakocevic averaged 19.8 points, 15.1 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game. USC has been a strong recruiting presence during Rakocevic's senior season as the Trojans have been one of the schools that showed the most interest in him during the season.
With Rakocevic coming off the board, now Morgan Park senior guard and Illinois Mr. Basketball Charlie Moore becomes the focus as the area's best uncommitted senior. Moore decommitted from Memphis late last week.
