Three from Simeon named McDonald's All-American nominees

Simeon and its players should have no problem bringing in awards this season, and Thursday afternoon three of them added McDonald's All-American nominee to the list.
Jabari Parker, Kendrick Nunn and Russell Woods were three of 13 student-athletes from Illinois to be nominated for the two 12-man teams for the Apr. 3 game at the United Center.
The selection show for the final rosters will take place on Feb. 14.

VOTE: Viewers' Choice Game Of The Week

Who wants it more? 

We are putting High School Lites, Chicagoland's top prep sports show, in the hands of area basketball fans in our "Viewers' Choice Game of the Week." Fans will get the chance to pick one game that the @NBCSPreps crew will cover on Friday. We will send our cameras to the game that gets the most votes; highlights and postgame reaction of that game will appear on that night's "High School Lites" broadcast at 11 p.m. The show also live streams at High School Lites will also have broadcast replays at 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. the following Saturday. Who's up for some games in the Metro Suburban Red conference? We're going to put the spotlight on one of the following: 

Guerin at Elmwood Park, 7:00 p.m.

Ridgewood at Wheaton Academy, 7:30 p.m.

Timothy Christian at Fenton, 7:30 p.m.

NBC Sports Chicago Preps Basketball Power Rankings: Week 3

This week's edition of the NBC Sports Chicago Preps Power Rankings features a few new teams as St. Laurence, unbeaten Romeoville and Kenwood enter the picture. The Vikings won three games last week while previously-ranked Kenwood is starting to play up to their preseason potential. With the holiday tournaments quickly approaching, it'll be interesting how these rankings shape up for the next few weeks. 

We'll have multiple teams from the Power Rankings on this week's editon of High School Lites, which is scheduled for 11 p.m. on Friday on NBC Sports Chicago. Be sure to follow our Twitter account @NBCSPreps for the latest updates on the area's IHSA boys basketball updates.
