Smith headlines youth hockey camp

A few lucky youth hockey players in Rolling Meadow, Ill. got the chance to skate alongside one of their role models on Tuesday.

Right winger Ben Smith headlined the Blackhawks youth hockey camp at West Meadows Ice Arena. Despite undergoing surgery in March after sustaining a hip injury, Smith spent the day on the ice and used his time with the children improving their hockey skills and further advancing his road to recovery.

"Being able to come out here and get on the ice is a good sign," Smith said. "By September I should be 100 percent.

"This camp is something that I really enjoy doing. I could be home watching TV or something right now but this is way more interesting for me, putting a smile on their face and making a memory they can enjoy for a long time."
