Some possible Cubs targets in the draft

The Cubs are mired in a 12-game losing streak, which has the fanbase looking toward the future.

And that's exactly where Theo Epstein and Co. are looking. With the MLB draft just days away, that is the focus of the front office.

The Cubs have the 6th overall pick and thanks to the departure of Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Pena, also have two supplemental picks -- at 43rd and 56th, respectively. Then comes their second round pick at 68th overall.

Four picks in the Top 70? Not a bad slate for a team trying to build a sustainable contender in the future.

John Arguello of CubsDen takes a look at a bunch of pitchers that could be on the Cubs' radar with some of those picks. The list includes such guys as Hunter Virant and Chris Beck.

MLB Drafts are so hard to predict since there are so many picks and so many players to choose from. That's why you don't see many exhaustive Mock Drafts like you do with the NFL. So it's very possible the Cubs wind up with zero guys from this list. Or they could take three in a row.

Either way, it's just one take, and an interesting one at that.
