What kind of impact will the NFL Draft have on Chicago businesses?
Here's what Crain's Chicago Business sports business reporter Danny Ecker had to say on the matter:
"It's really hard to measure," he admitted. "I think ultimately the NFL Draft is going to be a great commercial for Chicago, it's going to be a few days where the city's on a national stage, a global stage even; this event had almost half the viewership of the Super Bowl last year. You're going to have a lot of different restaurants and some hotels in the city that benefit from this, a lot of local vendors that are working on the Draft Town festivities. It's essentially going to be like another Lollapalooza in a lot of ways at a time when the city could use it. The question we don't know is, the answer we don't know is whether the city is footing the bill for some of this or what parts they are because unfortunately the City Tours and Bureau that has done the deal with the NFL isn't subject to public disclosures."
