Sports Business Minute: Fantasy just keeps on rolling

Share

Surprise, surprise! Fantasy sports are having a moment.

CSN Sports Business Insider, Rick Horrow, says the booming fantasy industry will only keep growing. Every now and then, we see new numbers that out-chart the last. For example, since the beginning of 2015, $500 million was spent by FanDuel and DraftKings (among other fantasy sports companies) for advertising their one-day leagues. In fact, $200 million of those were towards NFL television partners alone.

Sure, there are investigations looming around these leagues, but there are no doubts about the legality of this type of daily fantasy. It's been carved out since 2006, says Horrow.

However -- there is one thing. Is fantasy football and fantasy sports in general changing the landscape of actual game watching into a much more selfish experience? Ahem, secretly rooting against your die-hard favorite team JUST because you own the opponent's defense, sound familiar?

Hmmm.
