Sports Business Minute: Whistling Straits hosts last major of year

Share

Whistling Straits is hosting the last major of the year, and it's projected to make history.

The tournament is looking at a 200,000-person attendance and the largest grossing in their 97-year history of the PGA with a $100 million impact. Fifty percent of the fans are coming outside of Wisconsin, while 20 to 30 percent will come out of the Chicagoland area to add a boost.

Most fans believe it's the summer of Jordan Spieth. Although the 22-year-old won't win a Grand Slam, he'll make a significant impact in Kohler.
