Allen Iverson joins his ‘hero' Michael Jordan in Hall of Fame

One of the most memorable moments from Allen Iverson's career came when he crossed over Michael Jordan in Iverson's rookie season in 1997.

That move made him a star in Philadelphia and it came in the third meeting between the two players. However, the first time Iverson faced Jordan, he was awestruck and told that story during his Hall of Fame speech on Friday.

"I remember the first time I played against him and I walked out on the court," Iverson said. "I looked at him and for the first time in my life a human being didn't look real to me.

"I can't stop looking at him. I'm looking at his shoes and I'm like 'Man, he's got on the Jordan's.' It was Mike. It was my idol. It was my hero."

Iverson thanked many family members, friends and former coaches and teammates during his speech, but the section about Jordan included some of the best lines.

"I have to thank this man because without his vision I promise you there would be no Hall of Fame Allen Iverson standing at this podium if it wasn't for this guy," Iverson said. "He gave me a vision. You want to be fast like Isiah, and you want to shoot like Bird, rebound like Barkley, pass like Magic, be dominant like Shaq, but man, I wanted to be like Mike."
