Biggest storyline: The Rebels have gone to the playoffs in 21 of the past 25 seasons and are still one of the more consistent teams in the south suburbs. Can they get deeper into the IHSA state playoff field this season?

Names to watch this season: FB/LB Michael Smith (Sr.), RB Jamarion Gaines (Sr.), WR/DB CJ Wilson (Sr.)

Biggest holes to fill: The Rebels will welcome back several starters but a few questions will be need to be answered this summer, namely at quarterback and along the defensive line.

EDGY's Early Take: The Rebels will look to continue to make more positive progress. This season they will rely heavily on 13 returning starters (seven offense, six defense). Keep an eye on senior LB Michael Smith. He will be a four-year varsity starter who is drawing increased recruiting attention this summer.

Biggest storyline: T.F. South has advanced to the playoffs 20 times in the past 24 seasons. Can the Rebels get back to the IHSA state playoff field and make more noise this fall?

Names to watch this season: QB Kamron Clayton LB Michael Smith

Biggest holes to fill: The Rebels will need to replace seven starters on each side of the football this fall.

EDGY's Early Take: T.F. South head coach Bob Padjen was able to keep the Rebels on a winning path in his first season as Rebels head coach after several years serving in an assistant role. South always has talent. If the underclassmen can step up this summer, look for the Rebels to challenge for the top half of the South Suburban Blue conference race.

Names to watch this season: senior OL/DL Hasan Jackson, senior RB/DB Johnt'e Crawford

Biggest holes to fill: The Rebels will need to replace graduated three-year starting quarterback Reis Padjen.

EDGY's early take: Former Hall of Fame head coach Tom Padjen stepped down after coaching the Rebels for 40 seasons. His brother and longtime assistant coach Bob Padjen takes over the program. If the Rebels can settle on a quarterback they have a strong core of returning starters back (five, offense, seven defense) and could make some noise this fall.
