Iowa State continues impressive Chicago recruiting with Corliss' George Conditt

Iowa State has struck once again in the Chicagoland area as the Cyclones and head coach Steve Prohm landed a commitment from Corliss senior center George Conditt on Monday.

A late-blooming big man who elevated to a high-major recruit during the summer, the 6-foot-10 Conditt selected Iowa State over his other finalists of Illinois and New Mexico. Conditt took official visits to all three schools during the process but ultimately decided on the Cyclones as Iowa State gets a skilled big man with upside.

There is a family connection with the Conditts and Iowa State as George Conditt Sr. was a defensive back with the Cyclones' football team in the early '90s. While the family connection for Conditt Jr. was a small factor in his own decision to attend Iowa State, ultimately, the Cyclones deserve an immense amount of credit for pouncing on the fast-rising Conditt once he became a priority recruit.

With high-major scholarship offers from all over the country, Iowa State fought off in-state schools and schools from far away to bring in a big man with a lot of potential in a class that is seriously lacking talented post players.

Iowa State has now come into Illinois twice in the Class of 2018 after also nabbing a commitment from another late-bloomer in Hinsdale South's Zion Griffin. Prohm and assistant coach Daniyal Robinson, a Rock Island native and noted Illinois recruiter, deserve a lot of credit in their approach to recruiting Chicago-area talent.

With Conditt and Griffin both in the fold, and the Cyclones still heavily involved with Simeon senior wing Talen Horton-Tucker, there is enough evidence to say that Iowa State is currently recruiting Chicago better than any other program in the country when it comes to the Class of 2018.
