Bears RB Tarik Cohen disappointed by low Madden 21 ratings for catching

Bears RB Tarik Cohen disappointed by low Madden 21 ratings for catching

Tarik Cohen is not happy with his Madden 21 ratings. The Bears posted a video of Cohen listing his grievances with his rating on their Instagram page on Tuesday.

It’s understandable since Cohen will launch rated 77-overall, a big drop from last year’s Madden installment when he launched as an 85.

So what’s going into his low rating this year?

For starters, his catch rating is a 73.

“They didn’t see the backflip catches?” Cohen said. “That’s what a 73 gets you now? Do you know how many people are doing backflip catches?

In case the good people of EA are reading this, and in fact have not seen Cohen doing backflip catches, here ya go:

“They’re doing me dirty with the catching, that’s my biggest disappointment. That and the short route running.”

Cohen’s SRR rating sits at 75, which is tied for fifth on the team with Cordarrelle Patterson.

“That’s my game,” Cohen said. “Anybody who knows Tarik Cohen knows it’s catching and short route running.

“Why’d they have to do my catching like that? I’m still hot about that.”

No tea, no shade towards Cohen, but it may have something to do with those six drops in 2019, which tied for fourth-most in the league.

But Cohen still wasn’t done dishing on his catch and SRR ratings.

“I had the toe-tap against the Rams in LA!”

That was objectively an impressive touchdown catch. If Cohen can put a few more of those on tape this season, maybe his catch rating will go back up where he wants it.

Madden 2021 gives Bears' 11th best rating of all NFL teams

Madden 2021 gives Bears' 11th best rating of all NFL teams

Madden ratings are out, which is kind of weird because haven't Madden ratings already been out? What have we been blogging about for the last week?

According to Maddenschool.com, a real website, here are some notable Bears' ratings:

- Khalil Mack – 97
- Eddie Jackson – 89
- Allen Robinson II – 89
- Akeem Hicks – 88
- Kyle Fuller – 85
- Eddie Goldman – 84
- Roquan Smith – 83
- Robert Quinn – 82
- Charles Leno Jr. – 81
- Cody Whitehair – 81

You can see everyone's rating right here

The Bears are also apparently the 11th best team in the game? They got an 81 overall, with their 85 defense (ha!) buoying a 79 offense. They're also ranked higher than the Packers (14), Vikings (20), and Lions (30) (duh). All these ratings are fine. Everything about Madden 2021 is fine. Allen Robinson and Eddie Jackson should have gotten 90-grades, but again, this is a video game and it actually does not matter. Adjust the ratings if it matters to you. You're just going to play with the Chiefs anyways.

Madden 21 rating release: Bears' Cole Kmet ranked top rookie tight end

Madden 21 rating release: Bears' Cole Kmet ranked top rookie tight end

Bears tight end Cole Kmet is the highest rated rookie tight end in this year’s installment of Madden.

EA has slowly released the newest ratings for the popular video game franchise throughout the week.

Kmet received a 70-overall rating in Madden 21, due in large part to his wide-ranging abilities. In fact, he doesn’t lead all rookie tight ends in many categories, just pass blocking, awareness and trucking (the ability to run over a would-be tackler). However he ranks near the top in many other categories, like catching, strength and jumping.

Kmet was the first tight end off the board in the 2020 draft when the Bears selected him with the 42nd-overall pick.

Last season at Notre Dame, Kmet caught 43 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns.

The full list of Madden 21 ratings will be released Friday. The game itself will be available on Aug. 25.
