Jake Burger may already be a fan favorite on the South Side.
Aside from his fantastic last name and projection as a power hitter, the Missouri State product's favorite team while growing up was the White Sox, according to MLB Daily Dish. And his favorite player? Just the South Side icon who blasted a grand slam in the 2005 World Series. Oh, and some other guy.
"Paul Konerko was my favorite player... or Scott Rolen. One of those two," the third baseman told MLBDD ahead of the 2017 MLB Draft. "My favorite team was the White Sox."
Well done, Burger, well done.
Burger, 21, hit 47 career dingers in college, including 22 this season. He also produced an impressive .328/.443/.648 slash line.
For his dominant season, the Chesterfield, Missouri native was named a First Team All-American by Baseball America and given the Joe Carter Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year award.
