The USATF announced that the mixed relay 4x400m team will race in the finals on Saturday.

The U.S. finished in first but was disqualified due to an apparent handoff error. Lynna Irby appeared to received the baton outside of the takeoff zone for the second leg of the race.

Team USA appealed the disqualification and won. The handoff reportedly happened outside the takeoff zone because of an official error rather than Irby’s error.

With the U.S. back in medal contention for the mixed 4x400m relay event, Allyson Felix is back on track to potentially break or tie Carl Lewis’ record for the most Olympic track medals at 10.
