The White Sox have placed third baseman Brent Morel on the 15-day DL with a lumbar back strain and agreed to terms on a one-year deal with infielder Orlando Hudson.
Hudson, a two-time NL All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner, hit .211 with five triples, one home run and 11 RBI over 35 games with the Padres this season before being released on May 17.
