1 stat shows why Giolito's no-hitter stands out in Sox history

White Sox

Lucas Giolito did it!

The pitcher made history throwing the 19th no-hitter in White Sox history, but he still managed to achieve something no Sox pitcher has accomplished before.

Giolito's 13 strikeouts are the most ever by a White Sox pitcher throwing a no-hitter.

In fact, no other pitcher had thrown 10 or more strikeouts in the previous 18 no-hitters. Mark Buehrle only had six strikeouts in his perfect game in 2009. Philip Humber only threw nine strikeouts in his 2012 perfect game.

And as our own Chris Kamka points out, this is just the third time a White Sox pitcher has had consecutive 13 strikeout starts.
