Chicago White Sox could provide value for MLB sports betting this season

Betting experts like the White Sox after Fangraphs and others have updated their 2020 MLB projections.

Sean Zerillo of Action Network notes that the White Sox got the biggest uptick in playoff probability, per Fangraphs’ ZiPS projections, surging from 17.9% to 36.2%.

Zerillo agrees with the optimism from ZiPS and notes that all of his AL Central Futures picks have been the White Sox because of the value they present.

He also explains why he believes they may be one of the teams to benefit the most from a shortened season, starting with pitching.

“Michael Kopech and Carlos Rodon, who are both returning from injury, benefited from the delayed start to the season and could help the White Sox pitching to flourish over a shorter stretch of games,” Zerillo writes.

He also believes the influx of prospects will come on Day 1, and could have a big impact in a short time frame.

“Expect the White Sox to be extremely aggressive with their talented prospects, including Nick Madrigal, and potentially even 2020 first-round draft selection Garrett Crochet – who could serve as an electric late-season addition if they need a left-handed reliever for their bullpen.

“Crochet is not Chris Sale, but the latter made his major league debut for the White Sox on August 4, 2010, after being drafted No. 13 overall that same June.

“Without a minor league season, and with an increased opportunity at making the playoffs, MLB teams will likely deploy their best available players – no matter their age or contract situation; service time considerations be damned.”
