Eloy Jiménez carted off field with hamstring injury

Eloy Jiménez left Saturday’s game against the Twins with a right hamstring injury. The White Sox left fielder hurt himself when sprinting to first base, trying to beat out a ground ball. As he approached the bag, Jiménez stretched for the base and landed awkwardly.

Jiménez stayed on the ground for several minutes while the training staff came to attend to him. Eventually he stood up under his own power, but he was carted off the field of play.

Jiménez already missed one game this season due to ankle soreness. He fouled a ball off his foot and thought he had sustained a more serious injury at the time, but rest and treatment had him back in the lineup quickly.

The White Sox lost centerfielder Luis Robert earlier this week to a mild groin strain. Josh Harrison has also been sitting with back spasms. In addition to those two, the Sox have seven players on the Injured list, including key figures like Lucas Giolito, Joe Kelly, Lance Lynn and Yoán Moncada.

Jiménez is under further evaluation.
