Evan Marshall has the best Players' Weekend nickname of any White Sox player

Share

The annual Players' Weekend is back, and that means the rollout of the nicknames that will don the backs of jerseys across Major League Baseball.

While no one might top the salute to Abbott and Costello that is the "Who" on the back of Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto, the White Sox have their own list, and here it is:

Jose Abreu: "MAL TIEMPO"
Tim Anderson: "TA7"
Aaron Bummer: "BUM"
Dylan Cease: "CEASE"
Alex Colome: "THE HORSE"
Ryan Cordell: "CORDY"
Jimmy Cordero: "GERARD"
Dylan Covey: "COVE"
Ross Detwiler: "DET"
Adam Engel: "MAN OF STEAL"
Jace Fry: "FRENCHY"
Leury Garcia: "LEO"
Ryan Goins: "GO GO"
Jon Jay: "305 J"
Eloy Jimenez: "THE BIG BABY"
Michael Kopech: "KOPEY"
Reynaldo Lopez: "REY"
Evan Marshall: "FORGETTING SARAH"
James McCann: "McCANNON"
Yoan Moncada: "YOYO"
Ivan Nova: "SUPER NOVA"
Josh Osich: "O"
Carlos Rodon: "LOS"
Jose Ruiz: "EL DE GUACARA"
Yolmer Sanchez: "NOAH ALAN"
Matt Skole: "BABA"
Seby Zavala: "SEBY"

Plenty of South Siders are sticking with their now classic nicknames, like Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez and Adam Engel. Some honor family members. Some aren't all that creative.

But the winner has to be relief pitcher Evan Marshall, who is honoring the comedy classic with his last name in the title. The only way to better reference the movie would be if the name on the back was simply "DRACULA MUSICAL!"

The White Sox are also going away from the red that's been incorporated into the first two Players' Weekend uniforms and going all black.

You can see these uniforms in action when the White Sox play hosts to the Texas Rangers on Aug. 22, 23, 24 and 25.
