Stu Feiner is hoping the White Sox continue their hot stretch of baseball.
Legal sports gambling opened to the state of New Jersey today at Monmouth Park, and Feiner was the first person to place a wager totaling $1,000 or more.
In fact, Feiner went so far as to bet a cool $5,000 on the White Sox to beat the Indians today at Guaranteed Rate Field.
First four figure bet in New Jersey is @stusource. Bet $5,000 on White Sox to win today. Also had first four figure bet in Delaware. “I lost $4,000 in Delaware. I’m never going back to that state.” pic.twitter.com/yJNtjM0O7r— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) June 14, 2018
The White Sox are 8-5 in June after falling a season-worst 21 games below .500 at the end of May. They've taken two of three from the Indians in this series and can win it with Carlos Rodon on the bump today against Mike Clevinger.
Feiner will be banking on Rodon looking sharp in his second start back from the disabled list after he threw five innings of four-run baseball last week against the Red Sox.
The scuffling Indians have lost three of five and are just 5-6 in June, though they still sit atop the AL Central standings by 4.5 games.
New Jersey governor Phil Murphy placed the first legal sports bet in the state, wagering $20 on Germany to win the World Cup and $20 on the New Jersey Devils to win the Stanley Cup.
Good luck, Stu and Phil.
