Injuries sideline top White Sox prospects Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert

Two of the White Sox highest-rated prospects will be sidelined for weeks with a pair of injuries.

The White Sox announced Monday that Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert — the organization's Nos. 1 and 3 prospects, respectively, and two of the top 25 prospects in baseball — will each spend extended time on the shelf.

Jimenez will miss two weeks with a strained left adductor muscle, while Robert will be out four to eight weeks with a moderate sprain to a ligament in his left thumb.

This latest batch of injury news follows last week's update that pitching prospect Dane Dunning (No. 6 in White Sox organization, No. 54 in baseball) would be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a moderate elbow sprain. It puts 50 percent of the organization's top six prospects on the disabled list.

Jimenez was just recently promoted from Double-A Birmingham to Triple-A Charlotte. In his first 12 games with the Knights, he slashed .293/.383/.463 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs.

Similarly, Robert was moved up from Class A Kannapolis to Class A Winston-Salem, where he picked up nine hits and five RBIs in his first eight games.

Both Jimenez and Robert suffered injuries earlier this season. Jimenez started the campaign late due to a pectoral injury suffered during spring training. Robert suffered a different thumb injury during spring training that kept him from making his 2018 debut until June 5.

Injuries have become the story for the White Sox talented farm system this year. In addition to the now multiple injuries suffered by both Jimenez and Robert and the injury to Dunning, Alec Hansen's season started months after Opening Day and Jake Burger will miss the entire season with a pair of Achilles tears.
