The results for the first round of voting for the MLB All-Star Game are in and James McCann is the only White Sox player still with a chance to earn a starting spot as a position player.

McCann was one of the three catchers to advance to the new final round of voting. McCann is joined by Gary Sanchez of the Yankees and Robinson Chirinos of the Astros as the catchers vying for the starting spot behind the plate. McCann is having a career year and leads AL catchers with a .324 batting average.

Voting starts fresh for the final three and will take place over a 28-hour period. Voting begins at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday and runs through Thursday at 3 p.m. CT. The results will be released later on Thursday night.

Jose Abreu was in third place at first base in the first voting update, but fell to fourth on the most recent update. He did not move back into the top three. Tim Anderson was in fourth in both updates and remained outside the top three. Both players will have a shot to be named to the AL All-Stars on the bench.
