NBC Sports Chicago is simulating the 2020 White Sox season via "MLB: The Show" during the postponement of play. The White Sox, stocked with young talent and veteran offseason acquisitions, were expected to take a big step forward in their rebuild this season. Follow along as we play out the first few months of the season.

Result: Padres defeat White Sox, 6-0

Record: 14-27, fourth in AL Central (11 games behind Twins)

Winning pitcher: Chris Paddack (3-3)

Losing pitcher: Lucas Giolito (1-7)

Game summary: After being swept in heartbreaking fashion by the Giants in San Francisco, the White Sox headed to Southern California to begin a three-game set in San Diego. Losers of five straight, the South Siders were in desperate need of a win.

The matchup at Petco Park was a duel between two aces: Lucas Giolito and Chris Paddack. Giolito stumbled first. Trent Grisham drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the second. Then, Greg Garcia smacked a solo shot to right in the third, putting the Padres up by a pair.

That was all the offense conjured up against the starting pitchers in this affair. Giolito went five innings, allowing two runs while striking out six batters. Meanwhile, Paddack blanked the White Sox through 5.2 inninngs, also recording six strikeouts.

In the later innings, the White Sox bullpen continued its nightmare season. Evan Marshall got steamrolled by the heart of the Padres' lineup, giving up three runs in the sixth. He has an ERA of 6.75 on the season. Jace Fry gave up a solo homer to Eric Hosmer in the eighth, raising his ERA to 8.49.

The White Sox losing streak moved to six games.
