NBC Sports Chicago is simulating the 2020 White Sox season via MLB The Show during the postponement of play. The White Sox, stocked with young talent and veteran offseason acquisitions, were expected to take a big step forward in their rebuild this season. Follow along as we play out the first few months of the season.

Result: White Sox def. Tigers, 9-2
Record: 34-32, 3rd in A.L. Central (2.0 GB of Indians)

W: Lucas Giolito (4-7)
L: Jordan Zimmermann (3-3)

Game summary: After taking the first two games of the series with the Tigers, the White Sox sent Lucas Giolito to the mound Sunday to secure the sweep. Rick Renteria and the Windy City faithful were treated to six innings of no-hit baseball from the right hander, who lost the no-no on a dribbler off the bat of Niko Goodrum in the seventh.

Giolito got out of the seventh unscathed but in the eighth, an RBI single from Harold Castro ended his afternoon. A batter later, Miguel Cabrera doubled home Castro to draw the Tigers within a run. The Sox responded in a big way in the bottom of the inning, when Nomar Mazara hit a towering grand slam to give them a five-run advantage. Later in the inning, Yasmani Grandal hit an opposite field two-run home run to cap off a six-run inning for the Sox.

The sweep puts the Sox two games back of the Cleveland Indians, their next opponent, for first in the AL Central. They'll send Dallas Keuchel to the mound on Tuesday to kick off that series.
