Tim Anderson's iconic bat flip is being turned into a bobblehead

One of the most memorable moments of the 2019 White Sox season is getting the bobblehead treatment.

The White Sox released some of the promotions and giveaways planned for the 2020 season and a few are noteworthy, cool collectibles.

One that especially stands out is a Tim Anderson bobblehead. It’s not just any ordinary bobblehead though. It includes Anderson’s now infamous bat flip against the Royals from last April.

The detail in the bobblehead is impressive. His bat, which is held up by a wire coming out of the base and isn’t at all connected to the Anderson model itself, has the matching black and wood color of Anderson’s actual bat. The frozen hand motion fits in with what Anderson looked like at the moment of the bat throw.

Hopefully it isn’t an especially fragile bobblehead. It could be easy to see a cat or dog decide the bat is something to be swatted at.

The White Sox are giving 20,000 of those away to fans at the May 30 game against the Minnesota Twins. They could have elected to have it be the giveaway for a Royals game, but are staying away from that extra bit of controversy.

Among the other giveaways on the schedule through June are a Yoan Moncada bobblehead, a Lucas Giolito X-Wing pilot bobblehead and a mini replica of the 1960 scoreboard at Comiskey Park.
