Yeah, Adam Engel is back, all right.
In just his fifth inning of action following a lengthy recovery from a springtime hamstring strain, and the ensuing setback, Engel was up to his old tricks.
Famed for his home-run robberies in the past, Engel tracked a Niko Goodrum fly ball and made a leaping catch at the center-field wall, keeping Dylan Cease's shutout bid alive.

Again, that's nothing new for Engel. But just because he's made a habit of stealing homers away from opposing hitters doesn't make his highlight-reel snags any less impressive.
The Chicago White Sox outfield defense hasn't been drastically impacted by the slew of injuries out there, as Andrew Vaughn has played well shifting from first base to left field with Eloy Jiménez on the shelf and reserves like Billy Hamilton and Leury García have done a solid job in the absence of Gold Glove winner Luis Robert.

But Engel obviously brings a special defensive ability to the mix, and that's part of why his return will help stabilize center field while Robert remains in recovery mode.
He didn't take long to turn in Exhibit A.
"As far as being on the field, I feel about as 100 percent as I can be," Engel said before the game. "I don’t think that my hamstring — from a strength standpoint — I’m not going to be maxing a leg curl in the next couple weeks. But I’m able to run full speed and do everything I need to do on a baseball field, so I’m excited to play."
Yeah, looks like he's all good.
