The White Sox added some depth to their outfield.
The team announced Friday that it acquired speedy outfielder Jarrod Dyson in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for international bonus money.
Dyson is playing in his 11th big league season, the first seven of which came with the Kansas City Royals. He also played for the Seattle Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks before joining up with the Pirates.

This year, Dyson has a .157/.218/.157 slash line in a mere 55 plate appearances. But the White Sox, with Eloy Jiménez, Luis Robert and Nomar Mazara, as well as fourth outfielder Adam Engel, providing plenty of offense, would figure to use Dyson primarily for his speed and defensive ability.
He has stolen at least 30 bases in five different major league seasons, and Rick Renteria could call on him as a pinch-runner or late-game defensive replacement.
Dyson coined a catch phrase in Kansas City, saying after scampering home on a misplayed ball to score a walk-off run in a 2012 game against the Milwaukee Brewers: "That's what speed do."
Dyson also has the kind of winning experience the White Sox lauded in some of their big offseason additions. He was a member of the Royals team that went from rebuilding cellar-dwellers to back-to-back pennant winners and World Series champions. He stole four bases and scored three runs during the Royals' playoff runs in 2014 and 2015.
