The White Sox championship manager gave Chicago a pep talk Friday.

With Governor J.B. Pritzker reportedly preparing to issue a statewide shelter-in-place order, the city and the state are about to face some big challenges amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

People are reaching out to one another to stay strong, and that includes the former White Sox skipper, who took to Twitter to deliver some words of inspiration to the city.

"Hey, my people in Chicago. I'm very proud of you guys," Guillen said in his video message. "You're staying home. You're doing everything the experts tell you to do. Listen to rules. Listen to what the people want you to do. You have to take care of each other, love each other.

"Stay home. Don't go out unless you have to. I hope you don't have to because if you go out, that means it's an emergency. Stay home.

"We're going to get through this. We're going to battle this very hard. We're smart. We're strong. We've been through a lot of bad situations, and we make it happen. It's up to you to stay healthy. It's up to everybody to stay healthy.

"Stay home. I'm very proud of my Chicago people. That's every day, though. We've lot a little ways to go. Just be patient. Stay home with the people you love, and have fun. That's all you have to do.

"Take care of each other, take care of your friends, take care of the community."
