Chicago White Sox reliever Evan Marshall will undergo Tommy John surgery next month, per James Fegan of The Athletic.

The right-hander missed the last few months of the 2021 season due to a flexor strain in his right elbow. Marshall's last game with the Sox was on June 29, where he gave up two runs in two-thirds of an inning against the Minnesota Twins. He ended the 2021 season with a 5.60 ERA over 27.1 innings with 26 strikeouts and nine walks.

Marshall made five appearances for the Triple-A Charlotte Knights during his rehab assignment. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings.

It is likely that Marshall will the miss the 2022 regular season.
